Michael Norton is the Honorary Director and a Trustee of CIVA. His early career was in merchant banking and in publishing. Michael has been involved in several organisations as founder (Directory of Social Change, YouthBank UK) and co-founder (Changemakers, UnLtd). He chaired the International Year of Volunteers 2001 youth program for England. Michael was made an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town to assist in the creation of the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He was also made Philanthropy Instructor at Beijing Normal University

He is the author of numerous books on fundraising and charitable status including ‘Writing Better Fundraising Applications’ , ‘The WorldWide Fundraiser’s Handbook’ , and ‘The Complete Fundraising Handbook’ , all published by Directory of Social Change.
